Layer 2 for optimal network management

The XGS2210 series switches feature multicast management functions, IGMP snooping, MVR and voice VLAN, making them ideal data managers for VoIP, video conferencing, IPTV and video surveillance solutions. In addition to the usual Layer 2 functions, sFlow enables precise analysis of each client. For example, sFlow detects potential users who are preventing the network from functioning properly due to above-average bandwidth consumption.

Thanks to the use of OUI lists (directory of MAC addresses by manufacturer), the XGS2210 switches can detect IP phones and assign them directly to the standard installed voice VLAN. The QoS adapts to streams with particularly high latency times. The switches also support static routing IPv4 and IPv6. This makes it possible to use commands normally reserved for more expensive Layer 3 switches.

Complete configuration interfaces

The XGS2210 switches work with ZyNOS v4.30 and benefit from improvements, particularly in the area of the web GUI. Users now have access to a “status” page where they get an overview of all products registered in the network and can also access them via direct links. The web GUI now also includes all devices, be they gateways or WLAN access points. This allows the user to familiarize themselves with the settings of the various ZyXEL products more quickly.

Of course, it is still possible to configure these devices in the CLI, or in the case of a large number of devices also in SNMP. The settings and management can also be carried out via the ZyXEL One Network software. This allows users to reduce the time spent on repetitive tasks, especially on networks with a large number of devices. The software is very intuitive and allows configurations, management tasks and troubleshooting to be implemented quickly and easily.

With ZyXEL Smart Connect, the new series switches can also identify the ZyXEL devices to which they are connected and, for example, reset them directly on the switch interface or activate the PoE.

Flexible PoE budget

The ZyXEL XGS2210-52HP is equipped with 48 PoE ports, which enable compatible devices to be powered with up to 30 watts. This is particularly suitable for connecting WLAN access points, video surveillance cameras or IP video phones. The switch has a total output power of 375 watts. This budget can be used intelligently by having each port determine the necessary power for each connected device in real time. In this way, the overall consumption of the switch is minimized and it is possible to connect a larger number of devices to the same switch.
